Illustrated by the legendary Ken Sugimori, one of the original artists for Pokemon, who has produced literally countless Pokemon cards. Estimates put it above over 1000, yet this includes some reprints. A good portion of his early work shows Pokemon in detail with fairly simple backgrounds. His latest work was in Silver Tempest.

Released in Japan on February 4th, 2000, this was the first set to introduce Pokémon from Generation 2 into the card game from the Pokémon Gold, and Pokémon Silver games. It included the new Dark and Metal energy. The equivalent in English is Neo Genesis. The debut set for the Johto region!
